LATEST NEWS:-

March 2008

Well hi there and welcome back.

After a prolonged silence (caused by Webmeister having a sore finger) there are finally some updates to the site.

The 'Pigs returned to public view last night with a welcome return to Great Doddington WMC.  It was great to be back and a good time was had by all.  If anyone wants this good time's phone number, please mail the site.

Some new dates have been put on the site and others are currently in discussion.

For those keen to hear Bushpigs own material, there is now a Myspace site at which you can listen to both studio and live recordings of the band in its full pomp.  Check it out at:

(Wow! What a jaw-cracker).

We hope to see you all soon.

OXJAM 2007 - 5TH OCTOBER

Bushpigs will be one of four bands (along with No Remote, Terrapin Trainstation and The Pepperbox) playing a fund rasing gig at Down Under on Wellingborough Road, Northampton on Friday 5th October.  Entry is free but we will be collecting for Oxfam on the night if you feel able to donate

The gig is part of the natinwide Oxjam event which will feature gigs by people such as Jarvis Cocker and the Klaxons as well as lots of local gigs.

Full details of Oxjam can be found at their site

Please support as much of this event as you can.

August 2007

Whilst public gigs have been few and far between recently, the 'Pigs have not been idle and have been playing a selection of weddings and private parties through the 'summer'.

Last weekend saw Tony joined on vocals by an adoring female fan, aged seven, who upstaged the band entirely with her rendition of 'Is this the way to Amarillo?'  Tony Christie, eat your heart out.

The mixing of the Twinfest recordings has been completed and a sample of that will appear here as soon as we can remember how to upload it. Technology is not our strong suit.  Some would say that music isn't either but there you go.

Good news for the band has been the replacement of their venerable Carlsboro PA subs with some altogether lighter EVs.  Groaning backs and aching arms have rejoiced in relief.  If anyone would like to purchase a slice of 'Pigs history, please contact Duncan via this site.

Peace.

July 2007

Bushpigs went down a storm at Twinfest 2007 (on the Saturday and before the storm went down on Twinfest on Sunday).  Portaudio were there to record things and we hope to put up some live recordings for you to sample shortly.  A link to their site can be found on the Links page.

The band played a selection of their own material to a large and appreciative crowd and also broke the record for the highest average age of any group on the Twinfest bill.  To underline the contrast, the drummer in the following act (the excellent Ritz Royale) is only 14 and, therefore, less than a third of Botts' age.  'Age shall not wither nor custard stain his infinite variety'.

Quite a few people were photographing the gig.  If you were one of them and are reading this, we'd really like to see the pictures.

The band are currently considering the possibility of a gig in October as part of the month long "Oxjam" music festival, raising funds for, err, Oxfam.  Watch this space for more details.

Have a good summer (once it starts!).

May 2007

Bushpigs are confirmed to play Twinfest at the Racehorse in Northampton on 2nd June at 6.30pm.  This is part of a festival of local bands and young musicians from Northampton's twin towns of Poitiers and Marburg taking place across the weekend.  Details are available on the Twinfest site (see 'Links' page).

Apologies for the serious balls-up on the gigs page last month: the gig in Aylesbury is on 25th May, not 5th as advertised.  Fortunately the band found out before setting off...

Finally for those who have been paying attention, the infamous Dave Briggs has nearly reached his destination of Cape Town on his bike trek.  He is due back in the UK at the end of May.  Beware!

That's all folks!
